Elton Luther Weaver, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2017, at Dominion Senior Living in Sevierville, Tennessee.
Funeral service will be held at Lebanon Baptist Church in Falkville, Alabama on June 28, 2017 at 6 p.m. with visitation one hour before the service. The service will be officiated by Mr. Weaver’s son, Robert Weaver, pastor of Unity Baptist Church in Vandalia, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local Alzheimer’s Association.
Mr. Weaver was born July 19, 1934, in Centerville, Bibb County, Alabama, the son of Willie Wilson Weaver and Mary Florence Hill. Mr. Weaver served in the United States Army after graduating from high school from 1954 to 1956. He married Joyce Heath, daughter of O. B. and Alberta Heath on Nov. 5, 1961, in Columbus, Georgia.
Mr. Weaver was an electrician by trade and worked in both the construction and maintenance electrician fields for over 40 years before retiring at the age of 65 as a plant maintenance electrician from the GM Saginaw Steering plant in Decatur. Mr. Weaver was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church of Falkville for almost 50 years where he served as Sunday school teacher, deacon, children’s church director, bus driver, mission emphasis director and many other positions as long as he was able. He was a person who was always ready to serve others in any way that he could.
Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife, Joyce Weaver of Sevierville, Tennessee, formerly of Hartselle; his sons, Bill Weaver and wife, Angie of Auburn; Robert Weaver and wife, Michelle of Vandalia, Illinois; daughter, Kathy Weaver of Sevierville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jonathan Weaver and wife, Amber, Lydia Laughlin and husband, Josh, Bethany Young and husband, Matt and Nathaniel Weaver; great-grandchildren, Silas and Corrie Rose Weaver and Jackson Laughlin; and sister, Mable Neighbors of Hartselle.
Mr Weaver was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mary Weaver; brothers, Ervin Weaver and Wallace Weaver; sisters, Zelma Champion and Elsie Cox; and grandson, Angel Weaver.
