David E. Britton, 68, of Huntsville, Alabama, unexpectedly passed away at his home on Friday morning June 23, 2017, of an apparent heart attack. He was a devoted family man who took great joy in being an active member of his grandson’s and children’s lives, talking to each of them on a daily basis, despite most of them living out of town.  He was incredibly resilient and determined in all he did in this life.
He was born one of five children to John and Beatrice Britton on June 18, 1949 in Birmingham, Alabama, and grew up there as well.  He then attended Auburn University and graduated with an Accounting degree in 1970 all while working multiple jobs.  He worked as a healthcare accountant and financial consultant until his retirement in the fall of 2016.  He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, love of Auburn football, and comical degree of frugality.
He is survived by two sons, Christopher and Jason (Amanda); two daughters, Melissa McDonald (Matthew) and Mary Alice; one grandchild, Gabriel; two brothers, Harold (Betty) and Larry (Sandra); and his former wife and mother of his children, Jackie Jensen.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Tommy and Ronny.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, June 26 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel.
