On June 6, 2017, the world lost a beautiful soul. A brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather-Dale Hurtig- after complications from heart bypass surgery. At the age of 84, he lived a full, fantastic life as an avid fisherman and self-taught computer scientist. He showered his wife, Dorothy, with endless and selfless love as they celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. They were the purest form of love we’ve ever had the pleasure of witnessing. He was the sharpest, wittiest, most intelligent person one could know. Incredibly inspirational, and always there when you needed him. We love you and you’ll never be forgotten. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Hurtig, two daughters Cindy Ishee and Debra O’Malley, two sons Bill Stokes and Bob Stokes, four brothers Ray, Mervin, Ken and Larry Hurtig, two sisters Sharon Boelter and Marlene Carney, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grand children and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, June 8, 10 – 11 am at Berryhill Funeral Home, and a private family service will follow at 12:00 at Huntsville Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the American Heart Association or your favorite charity.
