Felix Jeffery Pettus, age 64, of Florence, Alabama, died, Tuesday, June 6, 2017 due to injuries sustained from an automobile accident. His family was by his side when the Lord called him home. It was Felix’s wishes to have a private funeral service for the immediate family only. Brother Joe Riddle will be officiating.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ruby and Britton Pettus and his brother J.B. Pettus.

He was an E-5 Sargent in the U.S. Army and served 9 years in the National Guard.

Felix was an avid Alabama fan and looked forward to football season texting “Roll Tide” to his family every time Alabama made a touchdown. He loved the outdoors and especially loved camping. He loved taking his camper to various places down the Natchez Trace and relaxing and reading his Bible. We find peace knowing his last few days were spent doing what he loved.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Pat Pettus; two daughters that he adored, Rhonda Parrish and Courtney Myrick. A son-in-law, Josh Myrick, that was like a son to him; his grandsons, who were the light of his life, Tyler and Cody Parrish and Austin Myrick.

He also had two very special pets. Hank was his 14 year companion whom sadly passed away last December. They were inseperable. His newest companion was Sam, a feisty little Jack Russell that brought joy again after losing Hank.

The family wishes to say a special thanks to the Vanderbilt Trauma Unit who took exceptional care of Felix and helped the family cope with their loss. Stephanie Dziat who was our caretaker and was with us to the very end. Woodmont Baptist Church and many family and friends for the prayers, calls, and texts. They are appreciated more than you will ever know.
