Martha Mitchell Johnston, of Sheffield, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the age of 90. Her visitation will be Friday, June 9, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Larry Kilpatrick officiating. She will be buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Martha was a native of Tuscumbia and retired as a Secretary from Threadgill Elementary School. She was a member of Cox Boulevard Church of Christ and the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy “Don” Johnston; her parents, Leo and Ethel Mitchell; and brothers, Whitman and Lyman Mitchell.
Her survivors include her son, Gregory Donald Johnston and his wife, Susan Cleveland Johnston of Birmingham, AL; grandson, Andrew Gregory Johnston, of Birmingham, AL; one niece and five nephews.
The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff at Cottage of the Shoals for twelve years of excellent care.
