Funeral service for Helen Frances Morris Dougherty Presley, 86, will be Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Hale officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery at approxiamately 4:00 PM.  Visitation will be Friday, June 9, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mrs. Presley died on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.  She was born Saturday, June 7, 1930, in Morgan County to William Maxwell Morris  and Betty Virginia Presley Morris.  She was a 1948 honor graduate of Falkville High School, Senior Class Secretary/Treasurer, an Honor Graduate of Carraway Methodist Nursing School, Florence Nightingale Award Winner, Highest Score on the State Board Exam for nursing, Queen of the Nurse’s Ball; Director of Nursing at Decatur General Hospital and Head Nurse in the Baby Nursery. She was a Nurse for Wolverine Tube Corporation and a Nurse for Baugh Wiley Smith Hospital. Mrs. Presley was a Christian woman, who loved her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She became a widow at a young age while expecting her third child, a daughter Rosemary. Her sons; Don and Frank were 5 and 2 years of age at the time of their father’s death. She raised her children while working as a single mother. She was loved by countless family, friends, neighbors, bosses, co-workers, her patients and their families and her church family.

She was preceded in death by her first husband: James P. Dougherty, father of her three children, and her 2nd husband: Bill Presley, her parents, three sisters: Edna Mae Bryant, Bettye Virginia Woodard, and Sarah Violet Johnson and a granddaughter: Kendra Dougherty.

Survivors include:

Frank Dougherty (Suzanne)

One Daughter:
Rosemary Doughtery Chappell Nelson (Dave)

Three Sisters:
Mary Alice Nelson,
Dana Ruth Schrimsher and
Lila June Turner

Five Grandchildren:
Keith Dougherty,
Rick Dougherty,
Reverie Chappell Carden,
Kate Dougherty Adcock and
Brooklyn Dougherty

Four Great Grandchildren:
Kannon Dougherty,
Gavin Dougherty,
Juliann Dougherty and
Fowler Faye Dougherty

Pallbearers will be Dave Nelson, Keith Dougherty, Rick Dougherty, Joe Carden, Dewayne Bennich, and Jeff Stinson.
