John Wesley Sandlin, age 77 of Cordova, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at his residence. He was the past president of the Cordova Quarterback Club, past president of the Lions Club, Chief of State Mining Industry of Alabama for 40 years, avid golfer and coach.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, June 2, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel, with burial at Walker Memory Gardens. David Dale will officiate.
Mr. Sandlin was preceded in death by his Parents-Howard and Mildred Barton Sandlin; Son-Scott Sandlin; Sister-Joan Sandlin; Brothers-in-law-Davis Sampieri, Jr. and Dwight Harbison.
He is survived by his Wife-Jane Sampieri Sandlin; Daughter-Carrie Sandlin Williams (Corey); Son-Kipp Sandlin; Sister-Donee Sandlin Harbison; Brother-Ralph Sandlin (Paulette); Special Friend-Bob Merritt; Grandchildren-Conner Wesley Williams, Colston Bruce Williams, Ashley Harbison Nuckolls; Great Grandchild-Evy Nuckolls; Mother-in-law-Emma Jean Sampieri.
