Mr. Tate, the son of the late McKinley and Ruby Woods Tate, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in Lexington. Ben was known to everyone as very easy going and a great story teller who enjoyed reminiscing about a number of subjects. He retired twice from Helms Motor Company in Lexington after thirty plus years of service and was a World War II Army veteran who served in both the European and Pacific theaters. Ben cherished his family, especially the grandchildren, and stayed involved with their lives in whatever capacity he could. In the later years, limited because of his health, through their visits he would still stay up to date with their day to day lifes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Virginia Tate; his daughter, Vickie Ricketts (Bobby); and one brother, Dalton Tate. Survivors include his son, Mr. Bobby Tate (Donna) of Reagan; one brother, Morris Tate of Memphis; two sisters, Lyndel Rhodes and Jackie Anderson of Lexington; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
