James “Roy” Gray, 64, passed away Sunday morning, May 7, 2017. He was a native of Florence and resident of Mobile, Alabama for the past 43 years, because he found the love of his life there. On June 24, 1983, he married Mindy Field Gray.

Surviving him are wife, Mindy Gray; son, Jason “Logan” Gray (Kailey); six precious grandchildren who loved their “Pops” as much as he loved them; one sister, Carleen Longshore (Jim), of Florence, Alabama; a sister-in-law, Bonny Gray; and a host of nephews and nieces.

Preceding him in death were his parents, James and Frances Gray, and his brother, Steve Gray, of Trussville, Alabama.

Roy was a faithful member of Creekwood Church of Christ in Mobile. He loved people first, and we know that by all the friends he laughed with, fished with, and hunted with. He loved the great outdoors especially “the good food” at the hunting camp.

Visitation will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway today from noon until 2 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following in the chapel at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
