Reba Clark Blouin – Obituary

Reba Clark Blouin, age 95, formerly a long-time resident of Florence, passed away peacefully at Walker Methodist Healthcare Center on April 29, 2017.

Reba was born in Savannah, Georgia to Leon and Claudia Gay Clark on Oct. 6, 1921. The family moved to Birmingham, Alabama where Reba attended Birmingham Southern College. Later she moved with her family to Florence, Alabama, where she met Glenn Blouin, a young chemical engineer who had moved to Florence from Texas to work with the Tennessee Valley Authority. They were married in Florence on March 5, 1948.

Reba was a well-known bridal consultant in the Shoals area. She was active in the Muscle Shoals District Service League (now Junior League of the Shoals) and Trinity Episcopal Church serving on the altar guild, floral committee, and Women’s Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Morgan Blouin; brother, Leon Edward Clark Jr.; sister, Betty Clark Oliver; and infant daughter, Barbara Blouin.

She is survived by her daughter, Gay Blouin Clapp (Dr. William L. Clapp); grandchildren, Rachel Osborne Panitzke and Joshua Clapp; great-grandchildren, Samuel Morgan Osborne and Lilah Panitzke and Maia Rains (Jason), daughter of Dr. Clapp, along with their children Evan, Will and Jeremy Rains; nephew, Jerry Clark (Shelley); and other much-loved family members.

Cremation will take place in Minneapolis. A memorial service will be held at Walker Methodist Healthcare Center on May 12, 2017. Burial service will be at Trinity Episcopal Church in Florence later in the summer.
