Tex Byess, 88 of Union Grove, The Morgan City area, died Wednesday April 26, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Byess was born January 14, 1929 in Marble Hill Georgia to David Byess and Lettie Mae Perry Byess. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He and the former Nora Wanda Brooks were married for 61 ½ years. Mr. Byess worked for IBM, The Apollo, Saturn and Skylab Programs in Huntsville. He and his wife also owned Morgan City Feed and Seed for 21 years before selling the business. He enjoyed boating, skiing and fishing and loved Alabama Football. He was a member of the Union Grove Masonic Lodge # 320 and had earned his 50 year pin.
Mr. Byess attended Rock Church in Huntsville.
He is survived by his wife: Wanda Byess; his daughter: Carol Byess Bondeson; grandchildren: Josh Bondeson and Shanda and Robin Kent; great grandchildren: Jon Greer and Candice Ford, Brooke Kent and Bella Kent; great great grandchild: Addison Greer and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: David and Lettie Mae Byess; a son-in-law: Vernon Bondeson; two brothers: Bill Byess and Troy Byess.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 29, 2017 at Brindlee Mountain Baptist Church in Morgan City with Brothers: David Nelson, Rusty Nelson and Eldridge Criscoe, officiating. He will lie-in-state from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Morgan City with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be David Byess, Dean Byess, Randy Byess, Tex Byess, Randy Light and Pete Lewter.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday April 28, 2017 at Brindlee Mountain Baptist Church in Morgan City.
