Funeral service for Billie Joe “BJ” Simmons, 79, of Decatur will be Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 1:00PM at the Austinville Church of Christ with Ryan House officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at the church.
Mr. Simmons died April 22, 2017 at his residence. He was born November 17, 1937 in Minor Hill, TN to Johnie Melvin Simmons and Amber Bassham Simmons. Mr. Simmons retired from Bellsouth as a manager after 32 years of service. He was a member of CrossPoint Church of Christ in Florence and Austinville Church of Christ in Decatur. Mr. Simmons was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He enjoyed fishing, especially with his family and he greatly enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bobby Simmons; two sisters, Margaret Elrod and Ruby Jean Woolen.
