ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning the theft of guns and a generator on April 4:

“Yesterday afternoon investigator Kelly Fussell arrested Randall Phillip Schrimsher for burglary 3rd degree.

On April 4, 2017 the police department received a complaint about 9 guns and a generator being stolen from an apartment and storage unit located at Country Living Apartments on US 31 South.

The victim told officers he was gone for the day and when he returned the lock had been cut off his storage unit and someone had been in his apartment also.

Investigator Fussell and Investigator Joe McClanahan developed Schrimsher as a suspect and were able to obtain a search warrant for his residence at 13222 HWY 31 south. After talking with Schrimsher he confessed to taking the guns and generator and trading them for drugs.

Schrimsher was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.”
