FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department issued a statement on the arrest of a suspect with several charges stemming from a welfare check on Tuesday, April 4:
“Julien C. Lefort was arrested following a welfare check call early yesterday morning.
Officers were notified of a female walking along Chisholm Road in north Florence shortly after 7am. The caller advised police that the woman appeared to be in distress and appeared to have been assaulted.
Officers responded to the area and located the female who was in need of medical attention. The woman was transported to ECM to receive care and was able to provide officers with a statement of events that to Mr. Lefort being located and taken into custody by police.
Following an interview with detectives Mr. Lefort was charged with Domestic Violence 3rd, Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Domestic Violence by Strangulation and/or Suffocation.
He is currently in the custody of the Lauderdale County Detention Center on bond totaling $8,000.00 US. ”
