Melvin E. Smith age 79 of Dora, passed away Monday April 3, 2017. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sumiton. He was retired from Sears-Roebuck Co.
Funeral services will be Wednesday April 5, 2017 at 11:00 am in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Charles Underwood and Rev. Ted Johnson will officiate Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Era Smith and his sister Kathleen Hollis.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jimmie L. Smith of Dora; nephew, Tim Hollis of Dora; sister in law, Peggy Cupps and husband Roy of Sumiton and brother in law, Ronnie Morrow and wife Wanda of Dora.
