Richard Arlen Holden – Obituary

Richard Arlen Holden, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 25, 2017. Richard was born June 27, 1944, in Florence, Alabama to Earl and Thalia (Redding) Holden. He graduated from Coffee High School class of 1963 and retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years of employment. Richard was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved God, his family, friends, and Alabama football.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Glenda; three children, Todd Holden (wife Dana), of Milan, Tennessee, Tara McVay (husband Rod), of Huntsville, Alabama, and Andrea Evers (husband Ray), of Senoia, Georgia; ten grandchildren, Grant, Mason, Adam, Kaylee, Randi, Hannah, Libby, Ray, Tiffany, and Annaston; great-granddaughter, Ryleigh; sister, Earline Moore (husband Jack), of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; and nephew, Allen Holden, of Denver, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by parents, Earl and Thalia Holden; brother, Dennis Holden; and nephew, Daryl Moore.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 8, at 2 p.m. at McFarland Park (pavilion two) in Florence, Alabama. Reverend Bill Myrick is officiating. Memorials in Richard’s honor may be made to Hospice Atlanta (1244 Park Vista Dr., Brookhaven, GA 30319) or Hospice of the Shoals (115 Fairground Rd., Florence, AL 35630).
