Evelyn McClain Lewis Stevenson – Obituary

Evelyn McClain Lewis Stevenson, 95, of Huntsville passed away on March 23, 2017. Born in Birmingham, AL, she was the daughter of Eugene Wilson and Dulcie McClain Lewis. Mrs. Stevenson was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Frank Moody Stevenson.

Mrs. Stevenson received her BA degree in Psychology from Birmingham Southern College in 1943. She was employed by the college for five years as an assistant to the Registrar’s office. After college, she married and worked for the U.S. Air Force, Brookley Field, Mobile, AL as a civilian during WWII. She spent the next number of years as a homemaker rearing two sons. Later she returned to the work force as a social worker with the State of Alabama Pensions and Securities.

Mrs. Stevenson was a member of First Presbyterian Church since moving to Huntsville in 1959. As a woman of faith, she devoted her life to caring for her family.

Survivors include her sons, Frank Moody Stevenson, Jr. of Huntsville and Edward Lewis Stevenson and wife, Betsy of Huntsville; grandsons, Bryant Lewis Stevenson and wife, Maryam of Birmingham and Blake Edward Stevenson and wife Julie of Huntsville; great-grandchildren, Hugh Blake Stevenson, Luke Sanders Stevenson, and Ellie Anneliese Stevenson of Huntsville, Graham Mirza Stevenson and Sara Elizabeth Stevenson of Birmingham.

A private family graveside service will be held.
