Charles ‘Chuck’ Elmer Nau III – Obituary

Charles ‘Chuck’ Elmer Nau III passed away Monday, March 20th.  He was born in Altoona, PA in 1947 to Charles ‘Butch’ Nau and Margaret Miller Nau.

He graduated from Bellwood-Antis High School in 1965 where he not only lettered in every available sport, but also met the love of his life, Joyce Madara Nau.

Chuck retired from the US Army after 22 years. He then established another career in industry for 22 additional years.  After retirement, he did volunteer work and enjoyed meeting friends at various places in the southeast Huntsville area.  He was an avid gardener, known by friends and neighbors for sharing his huge heads of lettuce and heirloom tomatoes.  He loved puzzles, animals, the Steelers and wine tastings at vineyards in various states.

He was preceded in death by his father, Butch Nau.  He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Joyce Madara Nau, his mother, Margie Nau, and brother, Larry Nau.  He leaves behind two children, Darla (David) Bernstein of Seattle, WA and Daniel (Jacki) Nau of Cropwell, AL,  as well as three grandchildren: Robby and Patrick of Seattle and Lizze of Cropwell.

Chuck will be missed by many.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date, to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to:  American Lung Association or The American Red Cross.
