Gerald Wayne “Bud” Brackeen age 80 of Athens, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Brackeen was born November 16, 1936 in Limestone County, AL to C.O. Brackeen and Etta Lynn Brackeen.
Services will be Wednesday, March 22, 2017 4:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bud White officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Mr. Brackeen was a member of Northside Church of Christ, and a former member of The Lions Club.
Survived by his wife, Jean Dollar Brackeen of Athens; one son, Daryl Brackeen and wife, Libby of Athens; one daughter, Donna Wooldridge and husband, Leslie of Athens; three sisters, Yu-Vawn Blakely, Cletis Brooks and Cornelia Pepper all of Athens; four brothers, Glenn Brackeen and wife, Betty, Keith Brackeen and wife, Mary, Philip Brackeen and wife, Kay and Nathan Brackeen and wife, Debbie all of Athens; three grandchildren Josh Brackeen and wife, June, Emily Zirbel and husband, Matt and Seth Wooldridge all of Athens; two great-grandchildren, Landon Brackeen and Molly Zirbel all of Athens.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Brackeen, Michael Pepper, Dwight Brooks, Chris Brackeen, Tim Toone, Josh Brackeen, Matt Zirbel and Seth Woodldridge.
