Letty Kaye Burke Lathem passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017. She was born Feb. 5, 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama. Letty Kaye graduated from Woodlawn High School. She was preceeded in death by her husband of 43 years, Browne H. Lathem; her parents, Woodard and Della Burke; her brothers, Len Burke, W.B Burke; and one great-nephew, Burke Wright. Letty Kaye retired from St. John’s Episcopal Church after 25 years of service. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter Lisa (Tom) L. Hanscom, of Greensboro, Georgia; two granddaughters, Jasmine (Jeremy) Hoggle, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Bethany Hanscom, of Birmingham, Alabama; two great-grandchildren, Raley and Ayden Hoggle, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews that she adored.
Letty Kaye enjoyed the companionship of her many dogs, tending to her flower gardens, chocolate desserts, and was very dedicated to her work at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
A private service will be held at later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley or the Decatur Animal Shelter.
