Mary Christina Hill Souther

Christina was born in Berkeley County, SC, and passed away in Huntsville, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her father Ernest F. Hill, mother Pearl Welch Hill, sister Mae Hill Myzell, and brother Jimmie O’Neal Hill.
She is survived by her husband Charles H. Souther, daughter N. Gail Perez (Andy), daughter S. Jane Souther (Michael), brother David Hill (Barbara), brother Harry Hill, sister Bertie lee Wortman, grandson Andrew J. Perez II (Tara), granddaughter Tyler J.C. Souther (Janice), ten great-grandchildren, one great-great granchild, many nieces, nephews, and other relative and friends.
Christina was baptized as an infant at Lebanon United Methodist Church, Ridgeville, SC. After her conversion experience in a Pentecostal Holiness tent revival meeting she was baptized in Ivy Log Creek and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church near Blairsville, GA. Later while living in AL, she mover her membership to Hebron Baptist Church near New Hope, AL, and later to Huntsville Park Baptist Church, Huntsville, AL, where she was a member until her decease. On many occasions during testimony services she wold recount her salvation experience in the revival tent with sawdust on the floor and one of the things she would say was “I was ready to go.” In spite of a challenging and difficult childhood and limited education she succeeded in a long retail sales clerk career. On many occasions when competing business managers would learn of her attitude, positive interaction with customers, and work ethic they would try to hire her away from the competing business where she worked.
She was an excellent cook and house keeper and devoted to the welfare of her husband, children, and great grandchildren.
