Dr. James L. Wayland was born March 14, 1933, in Tulsa, Oklahoma and passed away Feb. 19, 2017, in Killen, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by son, James Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley; daughter, Laura Simonetti (Paul); son, Alan; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was a graduate of UNA and UA medical school. He served the area as a radiologist before retiring in 1994 from the VA medical system.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m. in the Parish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church followed by a service at 2 p.m.
