William Ray (Hoot) Ferguson – Obituary

William Ray (Hoot) Ferguson, age 84, of Nauvoo, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at his residence.  William served as Elder for many years at the Jasper Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  He retired in 1985 after 37 years in the trucking industry from Mercury Freight Lines in Birmingham, AL.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.  George Boboian will officiate.

Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by his Father-William Claude Ferguson; Mother-Regina Bennett Ferguson; Brother-Elmer Ferguson; Sister-Maxine Ferguson Copeland; Wife-Glenda Sue Humphries Ferguson.

He is survived by his Sons-Cecil M. (Kip) Ferguson of Nauvoo and Wiliam Mark Ferguson (Corrninse) of Nauvoo; Special Nephew-Thomas Ferguson (Sherry) of Texas; Special Grandniece- Kathy Burgess (Brian) of Texas; Host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Newman, Sr., Donnie Newman, Jr., Wayne Tyra, Dextry Martz, Ricky Myers and Dee Davis.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Fred Erwin, Kevin Worsham, Gary Cleghorn and Ottis Burtram.
