Maxwell P. “Pops” Daugherty, 77, died Monday, February 6, 2017, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born July 24, 1939, in Lee County to Z.G. “Garrett” and Odell Pierce Daugherty. He was a well known route salesman for Lance. He was a devoted Christian man. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mantachie. He loved the Lord and his family.

Memorial services will be at 4:00 p. m. Wednesday, February 8, at the First Baptist Church in Mantachie with Dr. John Adams, Bro. Tracy Quillian, and Bro. Mike Reeves officiating. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Mantachie is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Daugherty, whom he married on March 6, 1991; eight children, Kathy Christian (Eddie) of Endville, Teresa Buse (Greg) of Tupelo, Cindy Buzan of Saltillo, Regina White of Fulton, Rodney Patterson (Angie) of Mantachie, Jeff Patterson (Robbie) of Guntown, Phil Patterson (Beverly) of Saltillo, Renee Reeves (Bro. Mike) of Golden; the mother of two of his grandchildren, Wanda McWhiter of Pontotoc; 26 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother, Robert Daugherty (Deloris); his brother-in-law, Billy Ray Smith (Deloris) of Sherman; his sister-in-law, Virginia Moreland of Amory; one niece;  two nephews; a special care-giver, Tesha; two special little boys he kept, Caleb and Grayson Buse; a host of other other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Hood Daugherty; one son, Brian Daugherty; two grandchildren; and his parents.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p. m. until service time Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Mantachie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity, or FBC Mantachie Bus Fund, or Youth Fund.
