Graveside Funeral service and Interment for Jerry Atkins will be Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 2:30 PM at Moss Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Tom Elder officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Church.
Mr. Atkins died on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Morgan County to Grady Sorrel Atkins and Grace Belle Cochran Atkins. Mr. Atkins was an outstanding High School and College Athlete. He obtained a Basketball Scholarship at Alabama College and also played baseball. He was All-Alabama Collegiate Conference Player and his senior year he was captain of the Basketball and Baseball teams. Jerry was also named,”Mr. Alabama College”. He received his Master’s of Education at MTSU and became a Coach and taught at several area High Schools including; Austin, West Morgan, Hartselle, Huntsville and Brewer High Schools.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Jack Atkins.
