Sarah Frances Smith, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, in Florence.
Sarah attended Burrell High School in the class of 1948. She was married to the late Aristide Smith and together they had two daughters, Patrice (Reginald) Brooks and Daphne (Otis) Boddie, one son, Dwight (Minnie) Ingram, and three stepsons, Aristide (Rev. Christine) Smith, Dwight Smith, and Norris Smith.
Sarah worked for many years as manager and operator of Mademoiselle Beauty Salon where she masterfully created hair design, cuts, and color. She was a faithful and active member of Mt. Moriah P.B. Church. There she served as deaconess and Senior Usher Board. Her hobbies consisted of reading, traveling, and walking her beloved Yorkie, Zeek. Sarah was active in the Alpha Pi Chi National Sorority.
She was preceded in death by late husband, Aristide Smith; daughter, Daphne Boddie; and Hilton Ingram and Diane Ingram.
She leaves to cherish one son, Dwight (Minnie) Ingram, Sacremento, California; one daughter, Patrice (Reginald) Brooks, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; three stepsons, Aristide (Rev. Christine) Smith Jr., Shaker, Ohio, Dwight Ingram, Dalton, Georgia, and Norris Smith, Dalton, Georgia. She has eight granddaughters, Roshawn Ingram, Aftan Boddie, Whitney Boddie, Chynna Boddie, Courtney Colston, and Aris Smith. She has four grandsons, Jordan Brooks, Stedman Boddie, Aristide Smith III, and Caleb Smith; six great-grands; special cousin, Mildred (Toot) Minor; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Florence, Alabama. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church, Florence. Elder Leroy Sawyer is officiating. Burial wil follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Florence, Alabama.
