Richard Lincoln Kerr – Obituary

Richard Lincoln Kerr passed away on January 31, 2017 in Huntsville, AL. Richard was the devoted husband of Barbara Ann Kerr who preceded him in death. He was born on February 14, 1933 in Medford, MA. He was the son of George and Mary Ann Kerr and had eight siblings, all of Massachusetts.

After high school, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served for 22 years, retiring as a Major in 1972. He completed two tours of Vietnam and was decorated with several medals and commendations,including multiple Bronze Stars. Richard attended the University of Colorado where he received a degree in accounting. After retiring from the military, he worked as a long distance truck driver, an accountant, and as a military analyst at Ft. Huachuca, AZ, from which he retired in 1992.

Richard is survived by his three children, Karen Forsyth (Jay) of Madison, AL, Cheryl Walton (Gordon) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Richard Kerr, Jr. (Lori) of Montgomery, AL. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice of Huntsville, AL, the American Lung Association, or a charity of your choice.
