Matthew Kerry “Matt” Thompson, 36 of Arab Alabama, died Saturday January 28, 2017 at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville.
Mr. Thompson was born September 24, 1980 in Ashland Alabama to William Kerry Thompson and Linda Gayle Wallheiser. Matt was a 1999 graduate of Arab High School and graduated from Snead State. He was employed by Gleason Research and Associates in Quality Control. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and coaching. Matt has coached baseball, football and basketball for several years. He will be greatly missed by many players and parents.
Matt was a member of Arab First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his parents: Kerry Thompson and Linda Thompson; his daughter: Morgan Thompson; two brothers: Andrew Thompson and Jake Thompson and his wife Wendy; grandmother: Naomi Thompson and a nephew: Blake Thompson and a niece: Reagan Thompson.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 31, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Rev. Steve West, officiating with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Thompson, Jake Thompson, Justin Sanders, Patrick Potter and Josh McWhorter.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Blake Thompson and Carter Gilbert.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday January 30, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Arab First United Methodist Church.
