Elinor Webb Burleson died at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama on January 27, 2017. She was born on Pulaski Pike NW of Huntsville. Her parents were James Ansel and Azilee M. Webb.
Elinor attended Meridianville Junior High School and graduated from Hazel Green High School. She married Clayton Spencer in 1953 and had three children, Clay, Diane, and Joan. They lived in Meridianville and attended the Cumberland Presbyterian Church where Elinor played the organ.
In April 1986, she married Bill Burleson. They moved from Hwy 72W to Meridianville in 1991. She joined Whitesburg Baptist Church in 1987.
Elinor was a housewife until 1978 when she began work as a secretary and eventually transferred to Redstone Arsenal. She retired from Redstone as a Systems Analyst in January 2000.
Elinor is survived by husband William G. Burleson; children, Clay Spencer of New York, Diane Spencer and Joan Williamson (Phillip) of Meridianville; grandchildren, Katie, Erin, Laney, and David; Caitlin, Amy, Casey, and Megan, and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Kaitlyn and Sophie. She is also survived by three step-children, and seven step-grandchildren.
Elinor’s primary interests were church attendance, music, grand and great-grandchildren, cross stitching, beading, and reading.
Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Whitesburgh Baptist Church South Campus. Service will follow at 2:00 with Dr. Jimmy Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
