Mary Katherine Smith recently went to Heaven to be with two baby siblings and her namesakes, great-grandmothers Mary Willard Webb and Katherine Edwards Smith.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14.
On January 21, 2017, Mary Kate left behind her big sister, Angel Joy Smith (age 3), who expressed her love for her unborn sister by singing Happy Birthday and kissing her pregnant mother’s stomach. While Angel Joy will never have the chance to color, sing, play or laugh with her, she will always love her baby sister. Mary Kate’s parents are William and Laura Smith of Killen, who will forever hold her in their hearts until they are reunited. Her grandparents are William and Christine Smith of Florence, and Larry and Brenda Webb of Tishomingo, MS, and great-grandmother is Joy Strickland of Tishomingo, MS.
Great-grandparents were Robert and Kate Smith, Floyd and Nina Waldrep, Odell and Willard Webb, and Eural Wayne (Pro) Strickland.
The family thanks the doctors, nurses and staff at UAB Hospital. Arrangements were made by Elkins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in honor of Mary Kate to Shoals Sav-A-Life, Down Syndrome Alabama, UCP of Northwest Alabama, or ARC of the Shoals.
The family will hold a private service at a later date.
Revelation 21:4 promises God will wipe away every tear from our eyes; there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.
