Sheldon Neal Mason, 75 of Arab Alabama, died Sunday January 22, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital.
Mr. Mason was born December 7, 1941 in Ionia Michigan to Glen Roy Mason and Verna Mae Wetherbee Mason. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a prison guard for the Michigan Department of Corrections until his retirement. He was married to the former Judith Ann McDonald for 56 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Mr. Mason was a member of Arab First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Judy Mason; his daughters and sons-in-law: Kathlene Rose and Mark Fisher, Stephanie Dawn and Kurt Lemke and Beth Ann and John Zeigler; two sisters and a brother-in-law: JoAnn and Keith Edwards and Jean Peterman; grandchildren: Michael Neal and Neva Fisher, Heidi Marie and Andrew Huesing, Benjamin Allen and Kristen Lemke, Emily Rose and Ryan Kalman, Trent James and Meghan Chipman and Brian Chipman; great grandchildren: Olivia Lemke, Quinn Lemke, Havanna Huesing, Caden Lemke, Finley Chipman, Abraham Huesing, Colin Fisher and Christopher Zeigler. He was preceded in death by his parents: Glen and Verna Mason and a brother: Robert Lee Mason.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday January 26, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Dr. Clint Landry, officiating. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday January 25, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to The Satin Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
