Fletcher Troy Kirby – Obituary

Fletcher Troy Kirby, age 86, Russellville, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Lakeland Community Hospital.

Bro. Kirby was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a devout Christian, a Church of God minister, and a good friend to all who knew him. He never met a stranger, and everyone who knew him, loved him.

The visitation will be 6:00 -8:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Russellville Church of God, with the body lying in state one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Rev. George Sansbury and Rev. Nick McSpadden. Burial will be at Johnson’s Chapel Cemetery in Danville, AL.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Virginia Kirby; his parents, Fletcher & Geneva Kirby; brother, Louis Kirby; and sister, Noma Lee Kirby Lawrence.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, David Kirby (wife, Sheron), daughters, Marcia Kirby McClellan (husband, James), Rhonda Kirby Matthias (husband, Tony); grandchildren, Kim Wood (husband, Trexter), Kristie Greenhill (husband, Michael), Zachary Kirby (wife, Jessica), Maigan Matthias; great-grandchildren, Arlye James, Xander Greenhill; Paislee James; brother, Billy Kirby; sister, Jean Kirby; and a host of nieces & nephews.

The pallbearers will be Michael Greenhill, Gary Cummings, Mike Riley, Tom Grimes, Jeremy Kimbrough, and Rylan Kirschbaum. Honorary pallbearer will be Xander Greenhill.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dad’s caretakers, Bessie Riley, Nell Pounders, Byron Gann, and Jeremy Kimbrough for all of your love and care of our dad through this time. Also a special thanks to the 2nd and 3rd floor staff of Lakeland Community Hospital for your love and care of our family. Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
