Nellerene “Nell” Harper Glover – Obituary

Nellerene “Nell” Harper Glover, age 101 of Empire, passed away Friday January 6, 2017. She was raised in Dora, Alabama and married Rufus Glover at the age of sixteen. The raised four children in Flat creek and was married for over fifty years when her husband passed away. She lived for many years in Sumiton and for the past five years with her daughter in Empire.
She was a very active lady who volunteered for years at local nursing homes and was a Pink Lady at Walker Baptist Hospital. She served as the church pianist for Lawler Baptist Church for the past thirty years.
A celebration of her life will be Monday January 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the New Horizon Memorial chapel. Rev. Jimmie Davis, Ronnie Capps, Charlie Freeman, and Keith Lane will officiate. Burial will follow at New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus A. Glover; daughter, Nila Kay Wright; son, Larry Glover (Joyce); son-in-law-, Jimmy Wingo; three brothers and six sisters
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Davis (Jimmy) of Fulton, Mississippi; daughter, Joyce Wingo of Empire, Alabama; ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and sixteen great great grandchildren.
