Thomas Hoyt Bean, born February 27, 1930, passed away December 21, 2016, at his residence at the age of 86 in Russellville, AL. He was born to the late Walker (Beulah) Phillips Bean. He was married to the late Martha Bean for 46 years. He had four brothers: William Loris Bean, Billy Bean, Earl Roy Bean, David Bean, and one sister Olivia, all of whom preceded him in death.
Mr. Bean graduated from Leighton Training School in Leighton, Alabama in 1957. He joined Saint Paul Christian Methodist Episcopal Church at an early age and then enlisted in the United States Army and served two years, having fought in the Korean War receiving Korean War Medal and W1 Bronze Service Star, and United Nations Service Medal. After working for Reynolds Metal Company for 31 years as a truck driver, he retired in 1985.
He is survived by his children: Thomas (Patricia) Young, Russellville; Terry (Allison) Young, Madison, Alabama; Jerry (Patricia) Young; Canton, Maryland; Rose Hamilton, Ypsilanti, Michigan; Corey (Sonya) Bean, Tanner, Alabama; Tori (Cecil) Rudolph, Russellville, Alabama; Beverly Guin, Florence, Alabama, and the late Thomas Bernard Bean.
Also surviving him are special sisters-in-law: Cathryn Croom, Florence, Alabama; Minnie Bean, Russellville, Alabama and Shirley Bean, Marshall, Texas. He is survived by a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren and one special grandchild, Rachel Burgess.
Visitation for Mr. Bean will be Friday, December 23, 2016 from 10:00 til 11:00 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, AL. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Eric Williams officiating. Services will conclude with burial at Franklin Memory Gardens, Russellville. Honorary pallbearers will be Curt Frizell, George E. Coleman, and Henry Christian.
His family wishes to extend a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice and sitter Rosha Hamilton.
