Steven Briggs Russell Wright – Obituary

June 28, 1952 – Dec. 11, 2016 — Steven Briggs Russell Wright, age 64, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016 after a brief illness.

He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a 1972 graduate of Bradshaw High School and a graduate of Shoals Community College. He was employed by ECM/Shoals Hospital as an IT Technician. He was also a personal IT Technician to many of his family and friends. He was a troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America, Pack 84-Troop 62 in Sheffield, and served at Camp Westmoreland for many years. His hobbies included anything with computers and game systems. He loved spending time with all of his family and friends; especially trips to Six Flags in Georgia. He was a huge Auburn fan and loved to cheer on the Tigers! He’d love to yell out a “War Eagle” as you left their house or passed him in the hallway at the hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.B. Wright, Florence; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Briggs Wright, Sheffield; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Azbell, Sheffield; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Strait, Florence; brother-in-law, Arvel Strait, Florence.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Strait Wright; daughter, Elizabeth Wright; sons, Briggs Wright (wife-Nikki), William Wright (friend- Lindsey Wilson) and Samuel Wright; grandsons, Seth Wright, S.B. Wright, Dawson Wright; granddaughter, Isabella Wright, all of Sheffield; brother, Scott Wright (Anita); sisters, Elaine Cook (James), Carolle Bump and Bonnie Bowling (Randy); brothers-in-law, Gene Strait (Betty), Donald Strait (Gladys); sister-in-law, Dale Landers (Kenneth); and a host of nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 ot 8 at Spry-Williams, Florence. Services will be Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Spry-Williams Chapel with Jim Azbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Railroad Cemetery in Iron City, Tennessee.

Pallbearers: grandson, Seth Wright; nephews, Eddie Strait, Donnie Strait, Wade Strait, Don Strait Jr, Brandon Strait and Bradley Landers. Honorary pallbearers: nephews, Jonathan Bowling, Jason Bowling, Jeremy Bowling, Brian Kimbrough, John Kimbrough, Jim Cook and Thomas Wright.
