ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect in a shooting that took place last week.  The suspect turned himself in to authorities on Monday, December 12:

“Kevaun Turner turned himself in today for the shooting last week on Brownsferry Street. Turner has been charged with assault 1st degree and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. He was also arrested on a warrant obtained in July for assault 2nd degree.
The July case occurred on July 2, 2016 on Acorn Hill Circle. The victim in that case told officers he was in an argument with Turner about a gun that had been seized in a drug raid on July 1, 2016. He said during the argument Turner pulled out a handgun and shot him in the leg. He also told officers he was able to run away and was picked up by a friend and taken to the emergency room.
Turner was booked at the police department and transported to the county jail.”
