ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement on a shooting that took place on Brownsferry Street in Athens around 10:00 Pm on Thursday, December 8:
“Last night shortly after 10:00 the police department received a call of a man shot in the 1200 block of Brownsferry Street. When officers arrived they located a 29 year old male on the porch of a residence that had been shot in the abdomen. The male was flown by Med-Flight to Huntsville Hospital. Officers were able to briefly talk with the victim prior to him being flown to Huntsville. Investigators have been questioning people that might have information and following up on several leads both last night and today. We do have a suspect in this case. At this time we do not have a warrant for anyone’s arrest nor have we made an arrest. When we obtain a warrant or make an arrest I will release the suspect’s name and more information. Due to investigators still interviewing and obtaining information about this case I cannot release any more information at this time.”
