Lura Mae White Ledbetter was born on May 20, 1923, in Lutts, Tennessee the daughter of the late Lawrence Erwin and Hattie Mae White. She was united in marriage to Jim Ledbetter who preceded his wife in death on Oct. 9, 1992.
Mrs. Ledbetter lived in Savannah, Tennesse and Lawrenceburg, Tennessee before moving to Florence, Alabama. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. She was also a member of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club and a Rotary Ann member. Prior to retirement, Lura Mae worked assisting her husband in the Ledbetter Drug Company.
Lura Mae Ledbetter departed this life on Dec. 1, 2016, in Florence, Alabama at the age of 93 years, six months, and 11 days.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lee Ledbetter Dobbins and her husband, Mitch, of Florence, Alabama, and Sandra Rochelle Moore, of Huntsville, Alabama; two sisters, Bonnie White Rich, of Adamsville, Tennessee, and Ruby White Johnson, of Florence, Alabama; four grandchildren, Jordan Dobbins, Katie Dobbins, Harris Moore III, and Stephanie Moore Birchmore and her husband, Jeff; and three great-grandchildren, Harris Moore IV, Bryant Birchmore, and William Birchmore.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, James Lawrence Ledbetter, and two sisters, Vonnie Stanfill and Maudie Beckham.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Services were held on Dec. 5, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, Tennessee with Robert Sparkman officiating. Burial followed in the Savannah Cemetery at Savannah, Tennessee.
