Wanda Slayton Parker, 56, of Town Creek, went home to be with her Lord on Dec. 3, 2016 at UAB Hospital. Her funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Jackson Memory Funeral Home with Brother Bertis Ray, Brother Seth Hood, and Brother Jackie Kay officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Mona Slayton. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Larry W. Parker; her son, Jared Parker and daughter-in-law, Emily Parker; her daughter, Monica Parker; and grandchildren, Isabella and Kaysen Parker.
Wanda was a retired bus driver from the Lawrence County School System. She was a member of Providence Baptist church. Wanda was a 14 year kidney transplant recipient survivor given to her by her aunt, Janet Parker.
Pallbearers will be Scott Hatton, Charles Hatton, Drew Parker, Riley Parker, Mike Simmons, Bobby Ellis, Jason Slayton, and Ethan Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make donations to the Providence Cemetery Fund, the Providence Building Fund, or your charity of choice.
