Peyton Benjamin “Ben” Dyer, 18, died Friday night, December 2, 2016 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. His good friend, Kartrell “Kayto” Rivers also died in the accident. Peyton was born in Tupelo on Jan. 13, 1998 to Richard Dyer and Kimberly Bullard Dyer Kelly. He grew up in Tupelo and attended Tupelo Public Schools. After moving to the Woodland Hills neighborhood in Guntown, he attended Saltillo High School where he was a Senior. Ben was very athletic, was on the Tennis Team at SHS, boxed (Gracie Jiu-jitsu), played soccer and played baseball in his early years. He loved music and played a mean acoustical guitar. Peyton loved all God’s creation and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing in the area woods, lakes and streams. An avid Mississippi State fan, Peyton had a joyful countenance and a sterling, outgoing personality. He loved and was beloved by his family, his many friends and his girlfriend, Karlie. He was a Christian and an active member of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Tupelo. His young life made a difference and his living was not in vain. He will be sorely missed.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3 PM Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at Lakeview Baptist Church in Tupelo with his pastor, Bro. Rob Garland and Bro. Kevin Merritt officiating. Sen. Chad McMahan will deliver personal reflections. A private family burial will follow in Sand Springs Cemetery in Pontotoc Co. Visitation will be from Noon-service time Wednesday only at Lakeview Baptist, 830 Shumacola Trail, Tupelo. Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel is honored to be serving their friends. His loving survivors include his Mom and Dad, Kimberly and Steve Kelly of Guntown; his father, Richard Dyer of Tupelo; his siblings, Heather Cox (Rick) of the Carolina Community, Shelly Clemons of Tupelo, Corey Dyer and his wife, Chandler Smith of Tupelo and Matt Dyer of Tupelo. His girlfriend, Karlie Harris of Saltillo; his grandparents, Donna and Steve Pickering of Pontotoc. His aunt, Kay Martin (John) of Jacksonville, Fla. and great aunt, Ruthie Garrison of Hurricane. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Pallbearers will be Chase Williams, Allen Rivera, Shaun and Dalton Kemp, Dillon Gilmore and Kyle Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers will be Coach Josh Griffin, the Saltillo High Tennis Team, Larry Pinson and Wilbert Bolden.
