Willie Mae Prestage Boyce – Obituary

Willie Mae Prestage Boyce, 87, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at her home of fifty-three years in Okolona, Mississippi. She was born on December 3, 1928, in Itawamba County, Mississippi, to James Dewey and Icy Lovell Barnes Prestage.

She married Richard William Boyce, Sr., on November 13, 1947, after graduating from Egypt High School in June of the same year, where she was an avid basketball player. Will preceded her in death on November 14, 2010, the day after their 63rd wedding anniversary.
A member of First Baptist Church, she was also retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sons, Rick and his wife Charlie, and Jeff and his wife Saida. She is also survived by a daughter Debra. Another daughter, Susan, preceded her in death on August 6, 2006. Also surviving are two grandsons, Richard Shaw and Blake Boyce, a granddaughter Hannah Boyce Caster, her husband Alex, and their son Henry.
Visitation will be Friday, December 2, from 5-7pm at Holland Funeral Home in Okolona. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 3, at 10am, also at Holland Funeral Home, followed by internment at Lee Memorial Park in Verona, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, or the charity of one’s choice.
