Cleta Marie Newbern Rickard, age 91, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016. Visitation will be today from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home of Florence. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens with Reverend Dewayne McDuff officiating.
Cleta was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Florence where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years and was a retired substitute teacher at Brooks Elementary School. She enjoyed riding her tractor and working on her farm.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Gower Thomas “G.T.” Rickard; sister, Mildred Rikard; and brother, Elton Newbern.
Survivors are her children, Joan Kennedy (George), Patsy Blasingame, Ann Watson (Danny), and Terri Stalons (Don); brothers, George Newbern and James Newbern; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Alabama Hospice or Florence Nursing and Rehab Memories Unit.
