ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning a theft that occurred on August 8 of this year.  An arrest has been made in the case:

“On August 8, 2016 the police department received a complaint of a theft from 507 Sanders Street. The victim told officers he met a female on line and he allowed her to come and stay with him for several days. Later the female then left to stay with friend for a night. At some point the victim either left the door open or gave the female a key to his residence. On August 8, 2016 the victim came home from work and found the female had come to his residence while he was gone and took 2 guns, a pool stick, camping gear, towels, a prom dress, money, shoes, sweaters, a cameo, craft material, 2 blow dryers, several pair of jeans, a coat and cooking utensils. The estimated value of the theft was $5475.00.
Investigators Johnny Campbell and Jonathan Caldwell investigated the case and was able to determine the female had given the victim a wrong name.
