Mrs. Estelle Parham of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016. She was affectionately known as “Stell,” “Stella” or “Mrs. Stell.” Mrs. Parham was a native of Decatur, but had lived in Nashville many years. She was predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lucian Speer of Decatur and five siblings. She was also predeceased by the love of her life and soulmate, D.L. Parham. They had 60 wonderful years together.
She graduated from Riverside High School and was the only girl trombonist in the high school band for over six years. Stella was of the Baptist faith and a former member of the Glenwood Baptist Church. She was a people person and once you met her, you had a friend. Mrs. Parham was an avid reader, she loved children and all kinds of music along with crossword puzzles, scrabble, board games and anything mathematical or numerical. Stella was a bookkeeper and real estate agent for many years.
Mrs. Parham is survived by one sister, Charlotte Kurtz of Carmichael, California; one niece and nephew, Mary Ann and George Gardner of California, and a special cousin, Jack Tucker of Georgia. Of her many friends, Mrs. Stell was deeply grateful and appreciative to several that were devoted, caring and concerned for her – among them were Ms. Cynthia Williams, Mrs. Cynthia West, Betty Vaughn and Linda Gibson.

Funeral services will be conducted today, November 15, 2016, at noon at Woodbine Funeral Home, HICKORY CHAPEL, 5852 Nolensville Road, by Wendell Byrd & Pat Freudenthal. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Active pallbearers: Brian West, David West, Douglas Smith, Jack Tucker, Brad Wilson and John Spore. Honorary pallbearers: Dr. Edward Glenn, Dr. Jeffrey Eskind, Dr. Benjamin Hill, Dr. Michael Zanolli, Stan Wade & Roger Dresser.
