Rosemary Watters Goodloe – Obituary

rosemaryRosemary Watters Goodloe passed away on November 9, 2016 after a long struggle with illness. She was born in Birmingham, AL on March 16, 1927. She graduated from Hueytown High School in 1944 and from the University of Alabama in 1949. She married John Harry Goodloe on June 25, 1949 and moved to Huntsville in 1951. She is survived by three children, John Michael Goodloe of Luray, VA, Carol Ann Goodloe of Arlington, VA, and David Wayne Goodloe of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren, Clark, Hank, Ashlynne, James, Abigail and Natalie; and two great- grandchildren, Brady and Oliver. She was predeceased by her husband, John and son, Anthony “Tony” Allen Goodloe of Huntsville, AL.
Her life was spent as a homemaker and she derived great pleasure from cooking, sewing, pets, antiques, birds and gardening. She especially doted on her cats, and actively supported the local shelters. She loved entertaining, traveling and taking pictures. Rosemary was involved in many civic and volunteer activities, including the Symphony Guild and the Botanical Garden. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church and volunteered as a Grey Lady at Huntsville Hospital.
A memorial service for Rosemary will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church. (307 Gates Ave. SE)
