Thomas Clyde Shook – Obituary

thomas-t-c-shook-1478866937Thomas Clyde Shook, age 81, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016. His family will receive friends Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. His funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Rudy Guess officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.

Mr. Shook was a Sheffield, Alabama native and a member of First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia. He served 13 years in the Naval Reserve and was retired from Reynolds Metals. He was a loving husband, father, and brother. He loved his work, made friends easily, and valued his friends. He loved Alabama football and his little buddy, “Kurtie.”

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary F. Shook; son, Michael Thomas Shook and wife, Julie; daughter, Leella Ann Shook; brother, Kenneth Neal Shook and wife, Sheila; sisters, Ophelia Ann Mize and husband, Jimmy, and Sara Ruth Adams and husband, Clifton; grandsons, David Wayne Holt, Mark Alan Holt, Benjamin Michael Shook, and Nicholas Colby Shook; great-grandchildren, Emma Frances Holt, Anna Katherine Holt, and Charley Benjamin Shook; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Hal Mills, Matthew Till, Monty Yeager, Bobby Collins, David Holt, Benjamin Shook, Nicholas Shook and pallbearer in absence, 1st Lt. Mark Holt, serving in Afghanistan.

The family expresses a special thank you to friend, Dr. Jack McClendon, the nurses of the fourth floor and special night nurse, Julie.
