Funeral service for Dorothy Sparkman Beggs, age 78, of Decatur, will be Sunday, November 13, 2016, 2:30 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Sparkman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. prior to service. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Beggs, who died Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at her residence, was born September 15, 1938, in Morgan County, to Floyd Sparkman and Lorene Puckett Sparkman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Edwin “Shorty” Beggs. Mrs. Beggs worked as a bookkeeper for Goodyear Tire & Rubber. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Mary Catherine.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Beggs (Mary Margaret) of Decatur; two brothers, Richard Sparkman of Decatur, and Frank Sparkman (Yolanda) of California; one granddaughter, Mary Catherine Beggs; and several nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Randy Beggs, Jerry Sparkman, Bruce Sparkman, Larry Beggs, Troy Sparkman, and Mike Garner.
