Betty Widmer Pierce – Obituary

Betty Widmer Pierce, age 87, of Maryville, Tennessee, formerly of Rogersville, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016. A memorial visitation will be on Sunday Oct. 23rd from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Rogersville Church of Christ. The service will follow at 3 p.m. at the church with Petty Ezell officiating. Burial will follow at Civitan Cemetery in Rogersville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Grace Widmer; husband, Billy Pierce; daughter, Carol Teffteller; brothers, Dick and Bob Widmer.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonita, of Carbon Hill, Alabama; three grandchildren, Kevin, Venus, and Caryn Hansen, of Maryville, Tennessee, Micah and Shelly Hansen, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; great-granddaughter, Alexandria Turcic, of Maryville, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Vera Cox, of Rogersville; nieces, Jane Widmer Smith, of Bullhead City, Arizona, Cindy Widmer Beck, of Wimauma, Florida, Melanie Widmer Trent and Sandy Widmer Murphy, of Tampa, Florida, Laurie Clark, of Northampton, Massachusetts, Joan Ezell and Candice Kirk, of Rogersville, Alabama; nephews, Richard Widmer Jr., of Savannah, Georgia, Robert Widmer Jr., of Tavares, Florida, Petty Ezell, Kerry and Linda Ezell, Blaine Cox Gordon and Donna Cox, all of Rogersville, Alabama.

Betty was a member of the Church of Christ. She retired from the Florence Clinic and then moved to Maryville, Tennessee. While researching the family tree, her daughter, Bonita located her two brothers that she had never met. She said the greatest thing to happen to her after age 60 was getting to meet her two brothers and their families.
