J. Reese Byrd of Decatur passed away on Oct. 18, 2016. Visitation will be today, Oct. 19, 2016 from noon to 12:50 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Roselawn Cemetery with Brother Brian Blass officiating.
Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Byrd.
He is survived by his sons, Gordon Byrd (Virginia) and Jimmy Byrd; grandchildren, Tracy Glenn, Daniel Moore, Jared Byrd, Emily Byrd and Austin Byrd; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Glenn, Little Reese Byrd, Maddox Byrd and Lacey May Brown; and sister, Louise Smith of Enterprise.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a manager for W.T. Grants. He then moved to Decatur and retired from Amoco Chemical. He also worked for Decatur Transit and was a deacon at Central Baptist Church. He volunteered for Hospice and Meals on Wheels.
