george-baker-1476779974Mr. George P. Baker, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2016. He was born in Michie, Tennessee and has lived in Jacksonville for many years. George retired from Eastern Airlines, serving more than 30 years and he was an active member at North Jacksonville Baptist Church. He loved being involved with the Gideon Ministry, Northwest Camp and sharing the love of Jesus with whomever he met. George was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Baker in 2014 and his sisters, Erlene Foster and Jessie Neil and his brothers, Junior Baker and Tom Baker. Surviving family include his daughter, Cindy (Carlton) Brodie); 1 granddaughter, Amber (Casey) Collie; 2 great grandchildren: Zachary & Haleigh; 7 sisters & brothers: Jane Austin, Fran Helms, Ruth Rose, Virgie Harvell, Ann Johnson, David Baker and Joe Baker and a host of church family.

Receiving of friends will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Peeples Family Funeral Homes, 2220 Soutel Drive near Lem Turner Road.

Also visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct 23, 2016 from 2 pm until services at 4 pm all held at Michie Church of God of Prophecy.
